Side Quest: Potion Mix-Up
Location: The Alchemist’s
Reward: 10gp each and potions.
This quest can either be started just by entering the Alchemist’s or by a help request on the notice board.
The quest is started when the party enters the Alchemist’s when the apprentice is there.
The party enters the Alchemist’s and is greeted by a rather erratic looking apprentice covered in soot and dressed in a heavily stained apron.
When the party approaches, the alchemist starts a conversation:
“Ah, you saw my notice! You’re here for the potion testing, right?”
The party can respond however they want, and the Alchemist’s apprentice will persuade them to help.
“It’s quite simple really. You see, I’ve lost my notes for what these potions actually do. Don’t worry, it’s nothing deadly! So if you could just like, drink them, I can note down their effects and figure out which is which. And in return I can give you gold and maybe some of the potion. How’s that sound?”
If the party accepts then the Apprentice is thankful.
“Excellent! Thanks for doing this, here you are!”
Depending on the size of the party, create that amount of potions using the random table below using three d8s.

If you’re playing in person, you can make this even more fun by creating drinks for you players and assigning the potions you rolled to each one!
